The Mpala Research Centre is situated in a cattle ranch and wildlife area, in Laikipia County, in central Kenya. The 20,000 ha property is situated northwest of Mount Kenya — 50km north of the Equator, and 50km from the urban town of Nanyuki. Mpala is bound by the Ewaso Ng’iro river to the east, and the Ewaso Narok river to the north.
