Dr. Dino J. Martins Executive Director
Dr. Martins leads Mpala’s mission of Science, Education, and Conservation, serves as the institution’s Chief Scientist, teaches and mentors students, and oversees the Insect-Plant Interactions Lab.

Beatrice Wanjohi Human Resources and Administration Manager
Beatrice manages all employees by assisting with any difficulties and if any difficulties with an administrator, research assistant, or peer should arise she can help manage them as well.

Gikenye Chege Finance and Operations Manager
Gikenye is our head of finances and works to ensure that Mpala’s finances are in check in order
to run. He is also the point person regarding visa issues.

David Hewett Ranch Manager
David manages the Ranch, including ~500 head of cattle, camels, goats and a few donkeys.

Alick Roberts General Manager
Alick manages the water and infrastructure, including the housing and waste management of Mpala.

Major Pius Muya Security Manager
Major Pius ensures the security of the entire 48,000 acres of Mpala as well as the surrounding area. Any security concerns should be directed to him.

Juilus Nakolonyo Head of Research Centre Security
Julius is the eyes and ears of Mpala and can arrange for a security guard to accompany you to the field.

Sheila Njoroge Executive Assistant
Sheila supports the Executive Director and assists with logistics within administration.

Anthony Ngaina Maintenance Manager
Anthony manages the workshop by arranging vehicles for the field as well as repairs for the lab facilities, vehicles, and accommodations at Mpala.

Anthony (Tony) Maina Accountant
Tony handles the billing and can be contacted regarding issues of payment.

Cosmas Nzomo Logistics Manager
Cosmas manages a wide range of logistics concerning housing, transportation, visitors, and much more.

Joseph Irura IT Manager
Joseph maintains our technology and ensures that the internet for staff and researchers stays up and running at Mpala.

Fardosa Hassan Operations Assistant
Fardosa supports the logistics of Mpala by organizing permits, guest accommodations, and transportation. She is also a liaison between Mpala and a nearby local community.

Megan McDaniels Princeton in Africa Fellow, Science Coordinator
Megan organizes equipment for the field and lab space as well as weather and GIS data.

Elaina Gu Princeton in Africa Fellow, Education Coordinator
Elaina coordinates the logistics for school groups, field courses, as well as weekend trips and events.
