From Columbia University, Yi Ru Cheng believes that birds play a significant role in the savanna ecosystem. In a multi-year study, she seeks to understand how collective behaviour and social structures emerge in grey-capped social weaver colonies. Her team is from Academia Sinica in Taiwan.
