From the University of Florida, Stephanie Wheeler is seeking to establish social dynamics and breeding systems in vitelline masked weaver colonies at Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia, Kenya. Through advanced techniques including DNA profiling, she will determine precise family structures with a focus on paternity in the highly dynamic Vitelline masked weaver colonies. Her research will also provide insight on how best the vitelline masked weaver birds can co-exist side by side with humans.
