A mature buffalo got stuck in the mud trying to reach the ever shrinking pool of water. Buffaloes need to drink water on a daily basis, and a favourite pastime is to wallow in water and mudholes to protect their skins. But today’s scenario is different. The buffalo is weak, and the mud is too deep. Fortunately, Kenya Wildlife Service veterinarians and Mpala Research Centre rangers are on site following the report. They rescued the buffalo. In a situation where a lot could go wrong, we are happy to report that there were no injuries. The buffalo and its rescuers walked away unharmed.
