Celebrating Earth Day – MpalaLive!

The MpalaLive project is an online platform that streams live footage of wildlife in and around the Mpala Research Centre, situated in Laikipia County, in Kenya. In its 10th year since inception, the project aims to raise awareness about African wildlife and conservation efforts in the region by providing a window into the daily lives of animals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, and more. Viewers can tune in to the live feeds at any time, day or night, and observe the animals as they go about their daily routines, whether it’s grazing, hunting, playing, or resting. In addition to the live feeds, MpalaLive provides educational resources, including curated video stories, teacher guides, lesson plans, and activities aimed at helping students learn about conservation, ecosystems, and wildlife behaviour. The platform also features expert commentary and field notes from researchers at the Mpala Research Centre, providing insights into the animals and their behaviour. By bringing the natural world into people’s homes and classrooms, the project aims to promote a deeper appreciation and understanding of African wildlife, and to inspire the next generation of conservationists.
