Tell us about your background. Where are you from? What brought you to Mpala? What have been some of your previous roles?

My home background is in Nyeri, Karatina. I came to Mpala in search of work. I faced many struggles back at home because I am an orphan, so I was looking for ways to support my family.

I first came to Mpala as a football player and casual worker. A friend of mine who was already working here was looking for someone who could play for the Mpala football team. I also represented Mpala in the Lewa Marathon.

Before coming to Mpala, I worked at Kisasa Feeds, where I helped make livestock feed.

What is your current role at Mpala? What are your goals?

My current role at Mpala is as a plumber. I also represent Mpala in sports activities. I won the Binti Mwangaza Charity Race and participated in the Lewa Marathon. In addition to plumbing, I help with maintenance work and simple repairs around Mpala.

My goal is to become a good leader to others at Mpala and to be a good example back at home, and one day for my children. I want them to have a good life and learn from me, which is why I continue to work hard and keep pushing myself. I would also like to continue supporting my grandmother and other family members.

What is one of your favorite things about working at Mpala?

One of my favorite things about working at Mpala is the friendships I have made here. I have met many good people and new friends, and we are very happy working together at Mpala. There is time to work hard, but also time to enjoy activities together.

Mpala supports people in many ways whenever they need help. One of my favorite memories was representing Mpala at the Lewa Marathon. I am very grateful that Mpala gave me the opportunity to have a job here.

What impact do you believe your time at Mpala has had on your professional career?

My time at Mpala has had a big impact on my life because it allows me to support my family. It has also given me opportunities to represent Mpala both within Kenya and potentially outside the country in the future.

I really appreciate being at Mpala. I have gained a lot of experience in plumbing, maintenance work, and communication with others. Working here has helped me grow professionally and personally.
